United Way Celebrity Golf Classic Kicks Off Tournament April 30, 2011

            SAN MARCOS, Texas - The United Way of Hays County is kicking off its annual Celebrity Golf Classic April 30, 2011. The event will benefit the Hays County Food Bank and fund other programs in the community.  Celebrity guests will include Samuel L. Jackson, stars from NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy and many more.

“This three-day event is something you can take the whole family to,” said Michelle Harper, executive director of United Way Hays County. “It’s a great opportunity to enjoy golf, music and some VIP treatment.”

Raffle items include two $500 gift cards for Tanger Outlets, a diamond pendant from Carl Reiser, Sr and a golfclub set from Golfsmith. Raffle tickets are one for $10 or 3 for $25. To purchase tickets please call United Way of Hays County at 512.353.1420

Celebrity Dinner - Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Embassy Suites in San Marcos, Texas:

·         5:30 p.m. - Cocktails

·         6:30 p.m. - Dinner and auction at the Embassy Suites

·         7:30 p.m. – Entertainment by the band, Little Texas (You can purchase individual tickets to this concert for $75).

Celebrity Golf Scramble - Sunday morning, May 1, 2011 at Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos, Texas:

·         7:30 a.m. – Registration

·         8:30 a.m. – Shot gun start

VIP Reception - Sunday evening, May 1, 2011 at Embassy Suites in San Marcos, Texas:

·         7:00 – 9:00 p.m. – VIP Reception presented by HEB

Celebrity Golf Classic - Monday May 2, 2011 at Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas:

·         8:00 a.m. – Registration

·         8:30 a.m. – Team photos

·         10:00 a.m. – Shot gun start

H-E-B and Century Link Donate $10,000 Each to the United Way Celebrity Golf Classic

                SAN MARCOS, Texas – (Date of release) – The United Way of Hays County, a non-profit organization, announced their Double Eagle sponsors, H-E-B and Century Link, who donated $10,000, today. Along with them they also announced their Eagle sponsors, who donate $5,000, and Birdie sponsors who donate $2,500. This money will go toward benefiting all of Hays County including the Hays County Food Bank. The deadline to become a sponsor is April 1.

The United Way Celebrity Golf Classic is an annual event that creates funds for the non-profit organization. Celebrities and Hays County’s finest citizens attend what truly is a VIP event.

The Celebrity Classic Needs Your Help!

Need service hours for an organization? Want to have the opportunity to meet celebrities while helping a great cause? The United Way of Hays County Celebrity Classic needs volunteers. This three-day tournament is packed with events that need your help.  Everything from working registrations and auctions to the golf tournament and VIP celebrity reception will need volunteers.

We want the community to be involved in an event that will benefit the entire community. Below are the days and times volunteers will be needed (please keep in mind that you may need to arrive 30 minutes prior to these times):

Get involved early to receive information on any other pre-tournament events that may need your help too, you never know who you might meet.

Sponsorships and Donations

We have four levels for sponsorship packages for this event. Donations are accepted from an individual, corporation or foundation. Sponsorship packages can be expensive so we are accepting any amount of donation you would like to make, no amount is too small and/or a silent auction item.

Sponsorship Package Levels include:

• Hole-In-One Sponsor $15,000
• Double Eagle Sponsor $10,000
• Eagle Sponsor $5,000
• Birdie Sponsor $2,500

Save the dates the Celebrity Classic is back April 30, 2011 - May 2, 2011

The Celebrity Classic is now being put on by the United Way of Hays County! Don't worry, golf is still the theme of the weekend but now all the funds raised will be benefiting United Way of Hays County and its partners, including the Hays County Food Bank. Watch your donations be extended into more use within the community while playing in a great golf tournament.
